Botanical name: Microbiota decussata 'Prides'

Origin: Microbiota decussata is native to the mountains of Siberia — yes, that Siberia — where it grows above the tree line. The Celtic Pride ('Prides') cultivar is a Proven Winners introduction, specifically chosen for its uniform growth and excellent overall health.

Foliage: Sprays of ferny, scaly foliage line the branches, forming a soft, dense, shaggy mat. The evergreen leaves are a lovely mossy green most of the year but develop attractive bronze to brownish tones in winter.

Size and habit: This Siberian cypress grows one to three feet tall and four to six feet wide, with a low, spreading habit and gently arching branches.

Exposure: Full to part sun

How to grow it: For the best color and form, plant this evergreen in full or part sun with well-drained, moist soil. Once it's settled in, it can handle some dry spells — just make sure it goes into winter well-hydrated. USDA Zones 2–7.
